Description

During this yearlong class, students will focus on hands-on science labs and activities in the classroom and digital lessons at home. Students will also use a e-textbook and a work packet to reinforce and enrich important concepts. The ScienceFusion curriculum builds inquiry and STEM skills in the classroom, at home, and while using the science e-textbook. This course is designed to meet 2 days a week.

This class is set on a two year rotation so students in 7th and 8th grade to take the course two times without repeating topics. This year we will focus on Chemistry and Matter during the 1st semester and Cells, Heredity, and Human Biology during 2nd semester.

An Introduction to Becky Duncan:

Hello! I'm Becky Duncan, an art, nature, and science lover raised in the small town of Penryn, California. I attended the local K-8 school, and then Del Oro High School in Loomis where I played soccer and basketball, and tended to my goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats (as I still do today). I studied neurobiology, physiology, and behavior at the University of California, Davis, and went on to obtain my Master of Arts in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University. While doing graduate courses online, I also earned a certificate in science illustration and began my small art business creating watercolors inspired by nature. I've worked in science education for several years; I had the opportunity to guide students in the Greater Sacramento Area on environmental field trips through a nonprofit organization, and I’ve worked on as a creator and editor on the marketing team for an education company that makes learning equipment for classrooms. I love finding ways to combine art and science, and I try to promote curiosity and kindness in everything I do.

I’m very excited for the privilege to join the Bluedoor community!
