The focus for this course is on essay writing, covering argument, narrative, and research essays. Students will read poetry, short stories, scripts, and novel excerpts, with the expectation that they will comprehend each topic and form an opinion on it, using evidence in the text to support an argument.  It will cover the common core standards for this age range, while using intriguing material and approaches to help engage students and encourage them to write confidently, both in an academic and creative style.
