3rd Grade Block (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Designed for students working at a 3rd grade level, this course offers the best of both worlds: a nurturing, structured environment with plenty of room for creativity, independence, and discovery. Each week, students will dive into rich cross-curricular studies that connect language arts, math, social studies, and movement through literature, projects, collaborative activities, and real-world learning. Our focus on community, creativity, and curiosity helps learners not just meet academic goals, but fall in love with the learning process. It’s a class where students build confidence and classroom readiness while still feeling supported every step of the way.

For a Smooth Transition: What Helps Students Succeed

To help your child thrive in this course, we recommend that students have familiarity with the following skills before joining:

ELA Skills

  • Recognize different types of text (narrative, informational, compare/contrast)

  • Identify the main idea of a passage

  • Support answers with simple text evidence ("I think Cinderella is sad because…")

  • Write 3–5 sentences using inventive spelling

  • Answer "who, what, where, when, why" questions about a story

 Math Skills

  • Add and subtract within 100

  • Understand place value and base 10

  • Skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s

  • Solve one- to two-step word problems

  • Measure, tell time, and have basic money sense

Social & Emotional Readiness

  • Follow 2–3 step directions

  • Sit for direct instruction for up to 20 minutes

  • Work cooperatively in small groups

  • Keep hands to self and engage in class discussions respectfully
