Calling all curious thinkers and future scientists! This year-long, NGSS-aligned course invites 3rd–4th grade students to dive into the wonders of earth and life science through hands-on experiments, model-building, and creative problem-solving.
This year’s focus will explore everything from the layers of the Earth and weather patterns to the amazing human body, including anatomy, physiology, and body systems. Students will discover how living things function, grow, and interact with their environments—all while getting a little messy and having a lot of fun.
The class follows a two-year rotation, so students can enroll two years in a row without repeating content. It covers all grade-level science standards with engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
Students will also have access to our online learning platform for optional at-home extensions and resources. All materials are provided—just bring your curiosity and your questions!
An Introduction to Becky Duncan:
Hello! I'm Becky Duncan, an art, nature, and science lover raised in the small town of Penryn, California. I attended the local K-8 school, and then Del Oro High School in Loomis where I played soccer and basketball, and tended to my goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats (as I still do today). I studied neurobiology, physiology, and behavior at the University of California, Davis, and went on to obtain my Master of Arts in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University. While doing graduate courses online, I also earned a certificate in science illustration and began my small art business creating watercolors inspired by nature. I've worked in science education for several years; I had the opportunity to guide students in the Greater Sacramento Area on environmental field trips through a nonprofit organization, and I’ve worked on as a creator and editor on the marketing team for an education company that makes learning equipment for classrooms. I love finding ways to combine art and science, and I try to promote curiosity and kindness in everything I do.
