Full year course - requires enrollment in both Fall and Spring semesters and passing grades each semester to earn credit toward UC/CSU a-g requirements.
Students will develop communicative ability in Spanish, as they expand their knowledge of the history, geography and cultures connected to the language. Lessons are built upon AP Spanish language themes, informed by national and state World Language standards, and supported by an online curriculum offered by the University of California called UC Scout Spanish 1.
In-person class meetings provide students the opportunity to engage in conversation in an immersive environment, developing interpersonal, interpretive and presentational language skills.
Independent Study ensures that students gain adequate exposure to Spanish so that they may progress in their ability to communicate. Students will be assigned 3-5 hours of homework per week. Homework will include chapter readings, online activities, video lectures, quizzes, exams, projects and occasional web conferences with the instructor. All lesson requirements, schedules and grades will be posted on our learning management system.
Participants must be entering grades 9 to 12.
Registration starts on 04/22/2024 and ends on 04/29/2024.
