Contemporary art is art produced at the present period in time. Contemporary art includes, and develops from, post modern art, which is itself a successor to Modern art. Visual art today has many styles and mini movements happening at once called “Artistic Pluralism” an acceptance of a variety of artistic intentions and styles. They commonly express the individual and the development of a unique perspective.
This class will serve as an introduction to the concepts and techniques of art making with specific reference to the artists and issues of the twenty-first century. Drawing, painting, found objects, texts and more will be employed.  Students will use current trends and styles found on the Internet (Pinterest, Instagram, Etsy and mymodernmet.com) as well as up and coming artists from around the world. Students in this class will engage and investigate art that is relevant and relatable to the current art scene as well as their own lives. Personal connection and artistic freedom will be encouraged!
